The Virtual St Paul\u2019s Cathedral Project<\/strong> has been blessed from the beginning by an active and hard-working Advisory Committee<\/strong> whose members have provided guidance, raised questions, written letters of support, shared their expertise, and in every way have functioned as exemplary counselors for this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special thanks go to the distinguished John Donne scholar Peter McCullough<\/a>, whose performances of sermons by Donne at the Chapel of St John’s College, Cambridge, and at the annual Conference of the John Donne Society in the early 2000’s demonstrated the power and importance of experiencing Donne’s sermons delivered as well as read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special thanks also go to the distinguished digital humanist\u00a0Bernard Frischer<\/a>, a pioneer in visual modeling. When Dr Frischer was Head of the\u00a0Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities\u00a0(IATH) at the University of Virginia in the early 2000\u2019s, he met with Dr Wall, who at that time had had several applications for funding to support the digital recreation of St Paul\u2019s Cathedral and its Churchyard rejected by the National Endowment for the Humanities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Frischer was generous with his time and knowledge. We discussed at length the processes through which he had developed the pioneering digital model Rome Reborn<\/a><\/em> and how they might apply to the modeling of St Paul\u2019s Cathedral. \u201cYes,\u201d he said, you can create this model, and here\u2019s how.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then he said, \u201cAnd you can hear it too<\/strong>.\u201d And that has made all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
